Introducing replaceable nameplates
Personalising your dog's collar with their name can be a great addition to their waterproof collar. Plus adding your phone number will give you additional piece of mind if they ever take themselves off for an unaccompanied walk. It makes it so much easier for your dog to be returned to you quickly without needing to get a vet to scan for a microchip, or much worse, the dog ending up with the council ranger and sent to the pound.
I've personalised hundreds of collars and I'm occassionally asked about the longevity of the lettering. From my experience with my own dogs - Henry and Monty - I would say that 2 years is about how long I would expect the lettering to last. Beyond that, I've found that some letters might start to peel off.
Because the collars themselves can be expected to last for much more than 2 years, I've never been happy with this disconnect. The nameplates are secured to the collar with stainless steel rivets which are impossible to remove easily and safely - ask me how I know ;-). I've looked into a few different options for personalising the collars, but either the results aren't as good as what I'm currently doing or it takes too long to make it worthwhile.
But then I realised that I can use Chigaco Screws instead of the rivets. These are also stainless steel, so won't rust, and can be removed so that the nameplate can be replaced. You'll just need to order a replaceable nameplate, post the old nameplate back to me, and I can create a new one. Then you can simply screw the new nameplate into the position of the old one.
